in kansas city, missouri, and across much of the football world after a horrible tragedy that has left an nfl star player and his girlfriend dead in an apparent murder-suicide. police say kansas city chiefs linebacker jovan belcher shot the 22-year-old woman before he headed to the stadium he was expected to play in tomorrow afternoon. it was there he turned the gun on himself. thanh truong joins us from arrowhead stadium in kansas city. good evening. >> reporter: good evening to you. arrowhead stadium is a symbol of pride for this city and the kansas city chiefs but there is a lot of sorrow here right now after a deadly day ended not far from where i'm standing. shortly before 8:00 this morning, gunfire erupted at this kansas city suburban home. >> when we arrived, a lady came out and said her daughter had been shot by her boyfriend several times inside the residence. we went in the residence. she was taken to the local hospital where she died a short time later. >> reporter: just ten minutes later at arrowhead stadium a man with a gun. >> we got a call at the arrowhead stadium to the
hole and expose an 8 foot storm pipe. city officials say the big pipe was designed to safely transport a massive amount of water underneath this road steering rain water away from homes but somehow it failed. on sunday morning, the road caved in - the crater is now huge, 80 feet long, 30 wide and 18 feet deep. the failure is under investigation, but in the meantime, the race is on to figure out how to put in another drainage system. city officials say if there is not a temporary fix put in before the next storm hits ... it could be disasterous out here. also in the east bay... the amount we are expecting the rains to come back on tuesday. with a heavy rainfall on wednesday. the goal is to get down to this storm pipe by this time tomorrow as we can assess the situation. if we were exposed like this water would be the enemy when it comes to soil. if it came in like this fully exposed it could be catastrophic. we are trying to get the utility company to get down to the storm drain to reassess it and get it working for wednesday. if not, some taboret control measures and be prepared fo
at cnn world headquarters in atlanta. thank you so much for joining us. the city of kansas city shocked tonight after an apparent murder/suicide involving one of their nfl players. linebacker jovan belcher is dead. he killed himself with a gun in front of his coach, his general manager, and police officers near arrowhead stadium. about half an hour earlier police say he killed his girlfriend. from internet millionaire to fugitive, john mcafee gave a very bizarre and exclusive interview to cnn from his hideaway in central america. you're going to hear it in a moment. and jordan davis, 17 years old, today was his funeral. jordan was shot dead after an argument about loud music. we spoke to his broken-hearted father who has a message for all parents of teenagers. >>> personal tragedy from the world of sports to report to you first. police say a player for the nfl's kansas city chiefs shot and killed his girlfriend this morning and then drove to the team's training facility where he turned the gun on himself. police identified him as 25-year-old jovan belcher. he had been with the team for
